Art in Mobile
April 5th, 2008
Everybody knows that a mobile phone nowadays is not just a device to be able to talk. With most of the cells you can make pictures, movies and ringtones. A lot of artists are inspired by that. They use mobile phones as main subjects for their projects, make art for phones or create art with their phones.
Art in Mobile, an initiative of the non-profit Art Gallery, Galerie De Meerse (10 minutes from Schiphol Airport, The Netherlands) wants to collect all this type of art on this website. Besides that, a special class program for teenagers will be developed, as well as workshops about how to use your phone as a tool to make art. In March and April, Galerie De Meerse will show the most remarkable pieces of art at her gallery.
If you have something for Art in Mobile, let us know at info [info #AT# artinmobile.com] and you might end up in the art gallery.

Artones.net
January 17th, 2008Artones.net is a research commission for artists making mobile phone art. The organization started early on in 2002 as a series of questions. Would artists be interested in making ‘commercial’ content, namely, really small pieces of art that could be sold to mobile phone users? If so, would the commercial distribution aspect affect the type of work they created? Equally, would typical ringtone/logo consumers be interested in purchasing innovative, artist designed content? What sort of content would be most popular, and why?
